SYBA - AGM - Sunday 3rd November - Grangemouth Railway BC, Barrie Place, Grangemouth, FK3 8QY
Notes from meeting
Our AGM 2013 held at Grangemouth Railway BC on Sunday 3
November turned out to be quite eventful with a number of ‘issues’ being raised and discussed. I
Initially, communication seemed to be a problem particularly with the National team trials and games, it was agreed that conveners should and would be kept in the loop with regards all matters relevant to National events.
The Election of Officials unfortunately saw the resignation of Vice –President Mark Paterson due to issues and problems in his own district, my thanks to Mark for his efforts in Dumfries & Stewartry and for the SYBA.
This left the Association with vacancies in the positions of President and Vice-President, the conveners and Representatives present nominated and agreed on the following elected Office –Bearers
President- David Ferguson - Central West
Vice –President Tom Reid - Glasgow South
Secretary Ann Young - Lanarkshire
Treasurer Ross Dennis - Perthshire
PR Officer Neil McMonagle - Greater Glasgow
Team Manager David Ferguson - Central West
I was delighted to accept the position having been president in 1998 and my involvement with the SYBA stretching back over 25+ years.
Many interesting and relevant points were raised during the remainder of the meeting and Minutes of the full meeting will be sent out to all conveners in the next few weeks.
My personal thanks to IPP Anne Bremner, her committee and all conveners for all the hard work and commitment over the last season.
The Scottish Young Bowlers Assoc. has reached a high level of stability, although there will always be hiccups, the association is very healthy.
However, everyone is aware the changes in our society has put pressure on all minority sports, not just Bowls. Bowls Scotland are trying to address this, but I believe we, the SYBA, need to make sure we are doing everything possible to promote bowling at our level.
