2008 National Finals - Winners and Runners Up
The 2008 National
Finals were concluded at Blackford BC on Sunday 17th August
2008 following their abandonment on Saturday 9th August.
SINGLES The
weather was perfect for playing off the remaining ends of the three
Finals and it was the Singles competition which was completed first.
GREG BALDRY (East Calder BC), representing West Lothian, held a
commanding 11 - 2 lead over ROSS MARTIN (Dunfermline West End BC), the
West Fife qualifier. 6 of the 11 ends had been played
when the game had to be stopped due to torrential rain
in Grangemouth.The Final score was 15 - 4 resulting in Greg
becoming the National Singles Champion for 2008.  WINNER - Greg Baldry
(East Calder BC) - WEST LOTHIAN
RUNNER UP - Ross Martin (Dunfermline West End BC) -
WEST FIFE
TRIPLES
The Triples was the next game completed, having resumed on the third of
the 7 ends with EAST LOTHIAN leading HIGHLAND 3 - 1.The
final score was 6 - 4 to the East Lothian triple, which survived a
scare in the last end with the East Lothian skip burning the end with
his last bowl with the Highland boys lying game.East Lothian
managed to hold on in the replayed last end to become the National Triples Champions for 2008.
