 2009 Andy Houston Trophy Results:

Winners - Midlothian
Runners Up - West Lothian

                                                 Third - West Fife
                                                 Fourth - Ayrshire North

"Saturday 12th September was a lovely day to watch some great bowling from the Under 16 teams taking part in the Finals of the Andy Houston Competition held at Kinneil B.C.

Qualifying Rounds had been held on 25th July and the competing teams through to the finals were West Fife (North Section), West Lothian (East Section), Ayrshire North (South Section) and Midlothian (West Section).

The semi final between West Lothian and Ayrshire North was a closely contested match on the East green at Kinneil B.C. ending with 5 points each with West Lothian winning on shots.

Midlothian and West Fife battled it out on the West green with Midlothian winning through 8 points to 2.

The 3rd /4th play off and Final took place after a meal with West Fife taking third spot and last year's winners Ayrshire North in 4th position.

Midlothian won the final and became the 2009 winners of the Andy Houston Trophy with West Lothian being runners up.

The Midlothian skips and their scores in the final were:

Andrew Kelly            6 - 15
Blair McKinnon        31 - 9
Megan Grantham     8 - 16
Neil Gibson               23 - 6

Congratulations to Midlothian on their performance and to captain Andrew Kelly who continually kept an eagle eye on the state of play.

The games I saw were played in a sporting manner so there is great hope for the future of bowling.

The members of Kinneil B.C. did a great job in keeping us fed and watered and the SYBA organised everything to the normal high standard."

    at:      KINNEIL BOWLING CLUB.

2008 Competitions (Venues and dates)

    Inter Counties Semi-Finals and Final
    Day for the Andy Houston Trophy

       at : Perth Bowling Club, Balhousie Street, Perth and
              North Inch, Perth

       on :   Sunday 14th September 2008
                                      (11.30am for 12 noon start)

       Ayrshire North retained the Andy Houston Trophy by
       defeating Central West in the final.

                        AYRSHIRE NORTH - 2008 WINNERS

       Ayrshire North beat Highland in a close fought semi
       final whilst Central East overcame their semi final
       opponents Edinburgh West.

       In the 3rd/4th place playoff Highland beat Edinburgh
       West.
      
        Final positions:

           WINNERS   -   SOUTH  -  AYRSHIRE NORTH 

                " The South Area playdowns were held at Ardeer Rec
            BC, Stevenston, Ayrshire on Sunday 17th August and
            North Ayrshire qualified to represent the Area at the
            Finals Day in Perth."

            RUNNERS UP  -  WEST  -  CENTRAL WEST

            " The West Area playdowns were held on Sunday 24th
            August with the winners being Central West."

            3rd Place   -  NORTH   -  HIGHLAND 

           "Perthshire played host to the District Inter-Counties  
            qualifying  for the North Area at Blackford Bowling Club
            on Sunday 17th August.

            Highland qualified from the round robin games and now
            represent the North area.

            4th Place  -  EAST   -  EDINBURGH WEST

           "East Lothian played host to the District Inter-Counties  
            qualifying  for the East Area at East Lothian Co-op
            Bowling Club on Saturday 26th July.

            The winners were Edinburgh West.

            We wish them all the best when they go to Perth in
            September."

         Street ) BC in Grangemouth.
