National Singles Qualifier (posted 4th June 2006)

Congratulations goes to Daniel McKendrick who qualified for the 2006 National Finals in Grangemouth after winning the district playdowns on Portsoy Bowling Club's green on Sunday 4th June.

Daniel qualified as the runner up of his section (on shots) in the round robin stage and easily overcame Scott Stephen of Macduff BC, who had reached the semi finals unbeaten, in their semi final match.

Scott Fielding who qualified as section winner over Daniel out of section 1, beat George Stewart of Cullen BC to give himself the opportunity of revenge against Daniel, who had beaten him by 1 shot in the round robin qualifiers.

However Daniel dominated the final and ran out a comfortable winner in the 11 end final.

Good Luck Daniel as you represent the Highland area at Grangemouth.

:: National Singles Playdown Result (5th June 2005)
Congratulations to Stuart Paterson of Keith BC who won the final of the Singles against last year's singles representative Innes Thomson (Lossiemouth BC) by 10 shots to 9 at Elgin BC, after a round robin competition involving a player from 11 out of the 12 clubs currently in the HYBA.

The round robin phase was held in two sections of 5 and 6 with the winner of each section going through to the final.

The final was decided on the last bowls with Stuart going into the last end 2 shots down.

When the buzzer went there were 3 bowls to play with Stuart lying 2 shots.

With his last bowl he drew a 3rd shot leaving Innes with the decision to fire or draw to save (or win) the game.

Innes decided on a heavy bowl which missed the head narrowly leaving Stuart a winning three shot lie.

All the best to Stuart when he goes to represent Highland at the National Finals in August.
