1st Grand Raffle

The first SYBA National Finals Day Grand Raffle was drawn on Saturday 11th August 2007 at Priorscroft BC following the abandonment of the National Finals due to rain and unplayable greens.

The Raffle has been a great success with total prize money of £500 paid out and almost all Districts donating at least one prize for the draw (between £10-£15 each).

I am awaiting notification of the exact amount of monies paid direct into the SYBA bank account from Treasurer Ross Dennis, however at the present time it is ESTIMATED that the GROSS proceeds are in the region of £2100+ and after paying out the cash prizes and raffle costs there will be a surplus made in excess of £1400.

Due to the success of the Raffle it has been decided to run another Raffle for the 2008 National Finals Day with Prize Money totalling £600.

Books are already on order and will be handed out at the November 2007 AGM to Convenors to allow more time for them for distribution to individual Clubs.

It is hoped that the 2008 Raffle will be even more successful than the 2007 one, and it has been agreed to try and sell 4000 books across the length and breadth of Scotland and thereby boost the SYBA funds.

SYBA 1st National Finals Grand Raffle

The promoter P.R.O. Alan Mitchell has been receiving a good number of emails from various District Convenors indicating that there has been an excellent response to the SYBA's 1st National Finals Grand Raffle.

Several people have already requested additional books for sale within their district.

Anyone requiring additional books should contact Ross Dennis ( as he currently holds the spare books, after all Districts have received their original quota based on the number of Clubs in their District during 2006).

LOTTERY LICENCE APPROVAL

SYBA have now received approval for their application for a Lottery Licence under the "Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976".

The promoter is the Scottish Young Bowlers Association P.R.O. Mr Alan Mitchell, and the Lottery Licence is registered with Aberdeenshire Council, using Mr Mitchell's home address as the "Registered Office" for the Association.

The intention is to hold an "Annual" Grand Raffle to raise funds for the Association.

The first Draw will take place on Saturday 11th August 2007 at Priorscroft Bowling Club which is hosting the Finals of the National Championships.

The main prizes are: 1st Prize £250, 2nd Prize £150, 3rd Prize £100
                                   plus numerous other prizes.

The tickets will be on sale at 20p per ticket (or £1.00 per book of 5 tickets) through all member clubs of the SYBA during the 2007 season up until the draw date of Saturday 11th August 2007.
